Damian Lillard Carries His Team To The Next Round of Playoffs!
Damian Lillard who plays for Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA has helped his team make it all the way to the playoffs. In the first round of playoffs the Blazers were put with Oklahoma City Thunder. They won and moved on to the second round of playoffs ending with the score 4-1 against the Thunder. In game 5 the thunder came really close to winning, causing them to have a chance in game 6. But unfortunately for the Thunder they lost. In the fourth quarter with only seconds left the score was tied 115 to 115 and Blazers had the ball. Damian Lillard, with seconds running off the clock, decided to take a risky deep three being guarded on and ended up making the basket ending the game 118 to 115 with Blazers with the win.
This shot ended up shocking all the Blazer fans and NBA fans. This ended up exploding all over media being one of the best shots taken in 2019 playoffs so far. Big media outlets such as Portland Blazers instagram as well as NBA's instagram and other big accounts immediately posted a video of this shot and posted it to share with many fans. This caused many fans to keep sharing it with people allowing everyone to know this crazy shot Lillard had made. Media has affected many people in this case allowing people to connect and talk about the news they have just heard about.
In my experience as soon as I turned on my snapchat all I saw was people posting the video of Damian Lillard making this amazing three. And as I went onto Instagram it was the same video all over my feed. I went looking into the comment sections and saw people just commenting and tagging other people so this video could spread even more.
I think it’s interesting how media can spread one post, one video, or one picture so rapidly and so much. I remember searching “NBA” into the search engine of my safari and seeing all kinds of news articles, twitter posts, and Facebook posts all talking about one basketball shot. It’s interesting that this kind of media-spreading certainly did not happen in the past, meaning that nowadays, media has allowed ourselves to be immersed in a global and interconnected social world. On the other hand, this kind of situation demonstrates that posting something negative only once on just one social media platform can end up spreading all over every kind of social media, causing the entire world to see a post, image, etc. intended originally only for a very small audience.
